I have one journal available to travel at the moment. If all goes well with this one, other will be available; each having the same guidelines as outlined here. The journal will be mailed from one person to another and finally back to me, after which the pages will be scanned and posted online. Here are the guidelines:
All participants should understand that the journal must be mailed via PRIORITY MAIL. The current cost for this is $4.80.
Each member is allowed one page for their entry. Please label your entries as your own along with the date you made the entry. Your entry may be of anything as long as you keep it on your page. Only 5 people will be on the sign up list at a time. Your page can be simply handwritten or you can decorate it however you wish. Its totally up to you. The pages may be quite delicate or pretty stiff so don't paste anything thicker than a photograph in it.
You may keep the journal no longer than 3 days before passing it on. This should be sufficient time to make your entry and send it on to the next person. This is an important factor as it could take a number of weeks before the journal returns home. It could take longer if people hold onto it longer than they are supposed to. So I strongly discourage it. To encourage the journal to keep moving along, I will send you a token of appreciation if you forward it along within 3 days of receiving it.
You may want to prepare or draft some ideas of what your entry will be before the journal arrives so that you can just make your entry without worries and pass it on in a timely manner.
For tracking purposes, all participants are required to email me when they receive the journal and when they send it off to the next person. If you feel you won't be able to do this, please don't sign up. When you are ready to send the journal to the next person, email me so that I may send you their address. In total you will email me 3 times; first to send your info, second to confirm you received the journal and ask for the next person's address, and last to confirm that you have sent the journal to whoever is next in line.
Everyone participating is required to mail the journal to the next person in line via Postal Priority Mail. Please don't ship it any other way, media mail takes way too long even if you save the pennies, and UPS Ground takes even longer. I can't stress this enough, US Postal Service Priority Mail ONLY.
